Great Britain is a kingdom consisting of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, creating a mosaic in which every tourist will find something for themselves, from museums to beautiful nature.
London is one of the most visited cities in the world. The capital of the country lies on the River Thames and attracts with great museums, including the British Museum, the National Art Gallery or the Victoria and Albert Museum and monumental monuments. They include Tower Fortress, the parliament building with the famous Big Ben clock, Westminster Abbey or the Buckingham Palace standing nearby Hyde Park.
The cities of Great Britain are very diverse and offer tourists a wide range of attractions. From historic buildings, which you can admire incl. in Edinburgh, Canterbury, Oxford or Cardiff through the industrial monuments of Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool to high-end museums and galleries that can be found in virtually every major city.
In the UK, people who like to spend time actively will not be bored. Lots of well-prepared and scenic hiking trails can be found in the Peak District, Snowdonia, Scottish Highland and the Lake District. Trails along the coast of Scotland and Northern Ireland are also very popular.
An interesting attraction of Great Britain is Stonehenge, a megalithic astronomical observatory. There are also many megaliths and prehistoric burial mounds throughout the country. In turn, from the Middle Ages come ruins or fully preserved castles, the most of which can be seen in Wales and Scotland.
