Great North Museum: Hancock
Great North Museum: Hancock is a museum of natural history and ancient civilizations. Interesting exhibits include the Egyptian mummy Bakt-hor-Nekht and a full-size replica of the Tyrannosaur Rex skeleton. Other exhibitions include "Hadrian's Wall", which depicts the Roman period in the history of northern England, "Natural Northumbria" - focused on wildlife and "Ancient Egypt".
You can also see the "Ice Age" exhibition showing the history of the British Isles over the last 12,000 years. There is also a so-called "Shefton Collection", which is one of the most detailed collections of Greek artifacts in Great Britain. In addition, the museum has many live animals, especially amphibians and reptiles. An interactive and workshop section was also organized.
Visitors have access to the museum library. It is on the second floor and houses three collections - the Library and Archives of the Natural History Society in Northumbria, the Library of the Newcastle upon Tyne Antiquarian Society and the Cowen Library of the University of Newcastle.
