West Midland Safari Park
There are over 160 species of animals in the West Midland Safari Park, including the largest herds of white lions, cheetahs, hippos and meerkats in the country. Here is the largest lemur enclosure in terms of area. The park's offer includes a car ride through areas inhabited by animals. There is also an amusement park with carousels, slides and a roller-coaster as well as an exhibition of interactive dinosaur figures.
Safari Park is divided into several sections. These include: Elephant Valley, African Plains, Wild Asia and Carnivores. The African Village includes Hippo lakes and lakes for lemurs and meerkats.
The park was opened in 1973. It was the first safari park in Great Britain, in which the so-called the big five of Africa, namely the lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo, although later the leopards were transferred to a facility in Scotland. It was also the first place in Europe, where successfully breeding white lions.
