Girl with a Dolphin Fountain
Girl with a Dolphin Fountain is the work of sculptor David Wynne from 1973. Over the years, "Girl with a Dolphin" has become one of the icons of London, like many other works of Wynne - a creator close to nature, disregarded by critics and highly valued by recipients.
David Wynne (1926-2014) never received formal artistic education, which did not prevent him from making a spectacular career. In London alone, we can see, among others "Girl with pigeons", "Dancers", Dancer with a bird, "Boy with a dolphin" or a statue of Guy Gorilla at the London Zoo.
The most critical reviews were met by the middle part of Queen Elizabeth Gate designed by Wynne - the gate created on the occasion of the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II's mother. The red lion (symbol of England) and the white unicorn (Scotland) were compared to characters from children's coloring books, not facing the seriousness of the anniversary and royal majesty.
