Hay's Galleria
Hay's Galleria is a shopping center, housed in an adapted and modernized building of a former port warehouse. There are shops, cafes, restaurants and offices, as well as a residential zone. Attention is drawn to the almost monumental bronze sculpture "The Navigators" by David Kemp, commemorating the history of this place. It crowns the fountain, with movable elements and water jets.
In the nineteenth century, part of the waterfront, which is part of Hay's Gallery, was the main unloading point for ships that transported tea to London. Nearly 80% of the goods were just passing through Hay's Wharf, as the place was called at the time. Among other things, for this reason, the quay and warehouse were referred to as the "London larder". This continued until 1940, when the buildings were severely damaged during the bombing.
