Borough Market
Borough Market is a food market in the Southwark district, near London Bridge station. High-quality products can be bought at one of over 100 stands. It's worth coming here for lunch and tasting in the cuisines of almost the whole world. Spanish paella, Thai pad thai, beef sandwiches, goat milk ice cream - it's just a drop in the sea of treats.
The market is assumed to be 1014. The trade flourished closer to London Bridge, which was the only bridge over the River Thames until 1750. Because the market caused traffic disruption, it was closed in 1754 by a decision of Parliament. However, it was allowed to create a new store elsewhere. And so in 1756 Borough Market was founded.
Borough Market is not only trade. Culinary workshops, thematic festivals and charity events supporting the fight against hunger are organized here. The popular marketplace has also appeared in several films, including "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Harry Potter."
