Salts Mill

Salts Mill is a former textile factory, now transformed into an art gallery, shopping center and restaurant complex. You can see a large collection of David Hockney's works and learn the history of the plant thanks to the exhibitions 'People and Process' and 'Saltaire History'. Salts Mill was opened in 1853 as a central element of Sir Titus Salta's utopian vision. In the neighborhood he built a model village, which was to accommodate workers working in the plant. Fabric production in Salts finally ceased in 1986.

In 2001, Saltaire was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
