Royal Armouries Museum
The Royal Armories Museum is a weapons museum that presents a national collection of weapons and armor. The main building has 5 galleries, housing 5,000 exhibits. In the section devoted to weapons and war armors, militaria are shown from ancient times to the present day. A separate exhibition is dedicated to hunting weapons. The next one presents exhibits from Oriental countries. The more interesting exhibits include armor for fighting animals - horses and elephants.
The museum is housed in a five-story building designed by Derek Walker and the Buro Happold architectural studio. The facility also has a monumental steel staircase adjacent to the Hall of Steel, whose walls are decorated with exhibits from the 17th century.
The Museum in Leeds belongs to a group of museums called Royal Armories. Other facilities include Tower of London and Fort Nelson in Pourtsmouth.
