Tropical World
Tropical World is a complex of greenhouses, where the climate of different parts of the world has been reproduced. There is the largest collection of tropical plants in Great Britain outside Kew Gardens. You can also see the Butterfly House and aquariums here. Among the animals living in the greenhouse are exotic birds, crocodiles and snakes. On separate runs you can see a group of meerkats, and in the so-called Night home - bats and other night animals. An Amazon zone was also created with piranhas and salamanders.
Tropical World is located in Roundhay Park. The main building of the greenhouse, known as the Coronation House, dates from 1911, when George V was crowned. The whole building was named in honor of this event. It was expanded in 1939 and modernized in the eighties. It was then re-opened as Tropical World. In July 2008, the official name of the facility was accompanied by the names of its sponsors - The Arnold and Marjorie Ziff Tropical World.
