Chester Zoo

About 15,000 animals live in the Chester Zoo. They represent over 500 different species, of which 155 have been classified as endangered. There are no traditional cages here, but the paddocks are large and as close as possible to traditional animal habitats. In addition to regular sightseeing, the offer also includes a boat trip through the entire zoo.

Among the catwalks, attention draws, among others Jaguar catwalk divided into four sections and sponsored by the Jaguar car manufacturer. Here, both dry savannah and rainforest conditions are reproduced. Another attraction is the cave where you can watch slowly flying bats, the largest in European zoos.

The zoo was opened in 1931. It covers over 160 ha, which makes it one of the largest in Great Britain. In 2007, it was recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the fifteen best zoos in the world.
