Walker Art Gallery
Walker Art Gallery is an art gallery in Liverpool, which houses one of the largest art collections in England, outside London. The facility belongs to the National Museums Liverpool group and is promoted as the "National Gallery of the North". The collections include Italian and Dutch paintings from the 14th-16th centuries and European art from 1550-1900, including works by Giambattista Pittoni, Rembrandt, Poussin and Degas.
Exhibitions also include examples of British art from the 18th and 19th centuries, including a collection of Victorian paintings and works by 20th-century artists such as Lucian Freud and David Hockney. The collection is completed by a large collection of sculptures. In turn, the collection of small decorative art includes British ceramics and gothic ivory.
The gallery is located in a neoclassical building on William Brown Street. It is the only street in the UK where it only houses museums, galleries and libraries.
