Kyoto Garden

Located inside: Holland Park

Kyoto Garden is a Japanese garden founded in Holland Park, often called an "oasis of peace". Colorful shrubs and trees grow here, there is also a small waterfall and pond where orange, decorative koi carp swim. Walking along the alleys you can meet the majestic peacocks, which the whole park is famous for.

The garden was founded in 1992 on the initiative of the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce according to a plan prepared by a Japanese designer. In this way, they wanted to express their thanks and appreciation for organizing the Japanese Festival in London. The first international sumo competition took place near the Royal Albert Hall.

In 2012, a second Japanese garden, Fukushima Memorial Garden, was opened in Holland Park. It was created as a symbol of gratitude for the support of Great Britain after the 2011 Fukushima earthquake.
