Westminster Bridge

Westminster Bridge is a bridge connecting the banks of the Thames at the height of the Westminster and Lambeth districts. Although it was officially opened in 1862, it was built in the mid-18th century, making it the oldest bridge in London. It has both car and pedestrian traffic. It consists of seven characteristic arches, and mainly steel elements were used for its construction.

The green color of the bridge is a symbolic reference to one of the two parliament buildings, the House of Commons, which is also green. They contrast with the red edifice that houses the House of Lords and the Lambeth Bridge, also in shades of red.

Westminster Bridge appears among others in horror 28 days later (2002) and in the twenty-fourth film about the adventures of James Bond, Specter. In March 2017, a terrorist attack took place on the bridge, which killed five people and injured fifty more.
