Eilean Donan Castle
Eilean Donan Castle is a 13th-century castle built on the island of Loch Duich, where three lakes meet. To get to it, you need to cross a stone bridge. The current appearance of the building is entirely the result of a reconstruction carried out in the 20th century, which was only partially compatible with the original castle. One of the changes was placing an open platform in the place of the northern wing with a view of the lake. The castle is open to the public, it can also be rented for special events.
The castle was built by the Scottish King Alexander II in 1220. According to history passing from generation to generation in the class of Mackenzie, the first owners of the castle, during the war of independence in the fourteenth century Robert Bruce took refuge here.
Scenes for such films as "Immortal" (1986), "Loch Ness" (1995) and "The World is Not Enough" 1999 were shot in the castle. He also appeared on the cover of Secret Garden's Dreamcatcher album.
