Grant Museum of Zoology

The Grant Museum of Zoology is currently the only university museum of natural history in London where you can see extinct species. There are about 68 thousand exhibits, including many animal skeletons and specimens preserved in jars. You can see here, among others tasmanian tiger, dodo bird and a collection of glass models of sea creatures by Leopold and Rudolf Blaschków. In 2013, the Micrarium was opened, which presents the smallest organisms in the world.

The museum was founded in 1828 by Robert Edmond Grant. Initially, it was to provide scientific material for analysis and further research. It was made available for public sightseeing only in 1996. In 2011, the facility was moved from its original location on the university campus to the Rockefeller Building, previously housing the library of the University of London's medical faculty. It is currently the oldest collection of natural history in Great Britain.
