Wollaton Hall and Garden
Wollaton Hall is an Elizabethan country residence that now houses the Museum of Natural History in Nottingham. His collections were divided into six main zoological, geological and botanical exhibitions. There is also an African exhibition here. The building is surrounded by a vast park where you can meet a herd of wild deer. In the garden you can see a collection of camellias, the oldest of which are 50 years old.
The building was built in the 1880s according to the design of Robert Smythson. Until 1924, the residence belonged to the aristocratic Willoughby family, then it became the property of the city of Nottingham. Two years later a museum was opened there.
Part of the scenes for the movie about the adventures of Batman were shot here, the Dark Knight rises . Wollaton Hall served as the residence of the main character, and key movie scenes unfold before him. At a distance of 5 miles from the residence is also the town of Gotham, from which the name of the comic book Gotham City was taken.
