Grand Pier
The Grand Pier is the largest of the three piers in Weston-super-Mare - 336 m long and supported by 600 steel piles. The ending of the Grand Pier is a spacious pavilion, which houses a restaurant and entertainment complex with lots of attractions for children. The pier, put into service in June 1904, burned twice during its long history: the first fire took place in 1930, the second erupted in 2008.
Among the attractions waiting for Grand Pier guests were a robocoaster, flight simulators, go-carts, a house of fear, a queue, slides, huge swings, a laser maze and a crystal maze with nearly 150 mirrors, and a laugh lounge. There are also several dining options, a pub, an ice cream parlor and a donut stand. There are concerts on the pier, they can be rented for company events, it is also a place for wedding receptions.
Shortly after the construction of the Grand Pier it was 300 m long, and at its end was a theater for 2,000. places and numerous stalls and shops. The pier was also to serve steamers. They were even rebuilt especially for this purpose, which cost 20 thousand. pounds and ended in a complete fiasco: steamers only moored for two days in 1907. The reason was very long tides (one of the longest in the world): even after a significant extension at low tide, the pier was out of sea.
