Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle was built in the 11th century on the River Avon. You can see here the splendidly decorated chambers, dungeons and the castle grounds, on which there is a large garden. It is also possible to enter the towers and defensive walls. Wax figures of their inhabitants were set up in the chambers, prepared by the Madame Tussauds Wax Office. The castle staff also work in historical costumes.

The castle was built by William the Conqueror and until the beginning of the 17th century it served as a defensive fortress. It was only later transformed into a country estate. Initially, the building was wooden, but gradually all the elements were replaced with stone. Towers were added to the original building, and the whole was fortified during the Hundred Years War in the 14th century.

Almost from the very beginning until the second half of the 20th century, the castle belonged to the Counts of Warwick, representing their power. In 1978, The Tussauds Group took it over and made it available for sightseeing.
