Šibenik is one of the largest Dalmatian cities and an important passenger port. Above the promenade and the port rises the Old Town located on the slopes of the hills, whose most important monument is the UNESCO-listed cathedral of St. Jacob.
Although Šibenik does not have beautiful beaches where you can relax for hours, it is visited every year by hundreds of thousands of tourists. In its immediate vicinity there are fashionable seaside resorts, the most famous of which are Vodice and Primosten. The beaches here are mostly pebble and rocky, very well prepared and equipped with deckchairs and umbrellas. The surroundings of Šibenik are also famous for their natural attractions, which is Krka National Park. You can admire picturesque waterfalls and Lake Visovac with the Franciscan monastery on the island.
Šibenik itself is above all valuable monuments that remind of the city's past and picturesque stone streets rising steeply from the port on the slopes of the hills. Above the Old Town is the dome built entirely of stone Gothic-Renaissance cathedral of St. Jacob. Around it, in the alleys, you can find many cafes and restaurants, and by the cobbled squares admire the Renaissance and Baroque palaces of the former Šibenik elite. Above the buildings there are three forts from the Venetian times, St. Anna, Saint. Nicholas and Saint. Michał, from which you can admire the city panorama.
