St. Monastic Garden Wawrzyńca is located in the Franciscan monastery in Šibenik. It is the only medieval monastery garden of this type in Croatia. Numerous medicinal plants and herbs were planted here, and the flower beds are divided by gravel paths. Visitors to this place can visit the cave of the Mother of God, the Monastery of Saint Catherine and the church of St. Lawrence. The monastery also has a cafe, restaurant and gift shop.
The Franciscan monastery was founded in the second half of the 17th century and includes a large architectural complex of connected buildings. The garden was rebuilt and opened to the public on November 6, 2007, after almost a hundred years of oblivion. The renovation project for this place was made by the renowned architect Dragutin Kiš, winner of the Flora Millennium Award in Japan in 2000.
