St. fortress Michael is the historical, cultural and geographical symbol of the city of Šibenik. In 2014, at the renowned Croatian Tourism Days event, it was recognized as the largest Croatian cultural attraction. After extensive reconstruction, it has become a great summer scene for various events related to culture, art and music. Various concerts, shows, fairs and theatrical performances take place here.
St. fortress Michael is located on a hill above the old town, 70 meters above sea level. White stone was used for its construction, thanks to which it catches the eye from a distance. It covers an area of about 2,600 m2. During archaeological excavations carried out in this area, architectural remains and many cultural monuments were discovered during the Venetian rule, the Middle Ages and even from the Iron Age.
