Nacionalni Park Kornati is a national park comprising the Kornati Archipelago. On the surface of 320 km2 there are 147 small islands, which can be reached by boat or viewed from the deck of a cruise ship or helicopter. The archipelago is a paradise for sailors, seekers of unspoiled untouched nature, diving fans and lovers of empty beaches.
The Kornati archipelago is famous for its gigantic, rocky cliffs - the highest are located on the islands of Klobučar (80 m above sea level) and Mani and Rašop (above 60 m above sea level). With many cliffs it is difficult to cast an anchor, because the vertical rocks reach several dozen meters below the water surface. Most of the islands are devoid of vegetation, and the only animals that can be found here are lizards and birds - gulls, pigeons, cormorants and eagle owls.
Even in the 17th century, a large part of the islands were inhabited. Vines and olives were grown here, and sheep farming developed. Currently, the islands are practically depopulated, the last few olive groves owners live here permanently. There are no hotels, no catering or entertainment venues.
