+17 attractions

Zielona Góra is the capital of Polish winemaking. Every year in autumn, a week-long Grape Harvest is held here, combined with an open-air event and a market of regional and wine products. Vineyards can be seen even in the city itself, and thanks to minor damage from World War II, Zielona Góra has an attractive historic center for tourists.

The city was founded in the 14th century and was quickly surrounded by defensive walls. The oldest monuments from this period are the gothic St. Jadwiga and the Łaziebna Tower (Głodowa), which belonged to the old town fortifications.

The center of the Old Town is the Old Market Square with the Town Hall and the Kupiecka Street that leads to it. There are houses next to them, mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. In the surrounding streets you can find several historic churches and chapels, including the half-timbered church of Our Lady of Częstochowa, built in the 18th century as a Lutheran temple. In the Old Town you can also visit the Haust Microbrewery.

Zielona Góra can boast of interesting museums. The largest of them is the Museum of the Lubuskie Region, which includes the Museum of Wine, unique on a national scale, and the Museum of Old Torture. Outside the city center, there is the Book Museum of the Middle Nadodrze region.

There is no shortage of family free time in the city. There is a Botanical Garden and a Mini Zoo as well as the very popular Aquapark in Zielona Góra. At the University of Zielona Góra, you can visit the Braniborska Tower, which is a great vantage point. On a hill covered with vineyards, there is a Palm House, built in 1967 and adjacent to the Winemakers' House, which is the most famous attraction of Zielona Góra.
