Cistercian monastery complex is a unique monument, which consists of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a beautiful Baroque altar, monastery buildings and ancient gardens surrounded by a 17th century wall. In the abbey there is the Parish Museum, presenting numerous historical monuments collected by the monks. There is also a August concert of early music.
Today's historic abbey buildings are the seat of the Seminary of the Diocese of Zielonogórsko-Gorzowska, so access to the interior is limited. No problem, however, you can visit the museum and see the church. The museum collection includes, among others, ancient prints from the 17th and 18th centuries, liturgical outfits, vessels, monstrances and a large collection of religious paintings.
In spite of the relatively young monuments of the museum, the monastery buildings themselves are many years older, since the period of the founding of the monastery is considered to be 1230 years. Cistercians resided there until 1834 when the Order was liquidated. Originally, the buildings had Gothic style, but in the 17th century they were built for baroque. The church altar with a painting by Felix Scheffler dates back to 1739.
