Boryszyn Loop

Local name: Pętla Boryszyńska

Boryszyn MRU loop is a two-way hiking trails of various lengths and the opportunity to tour the bike of the German fortification of the Second World War cycling. The complex includes a series of underground tunnels as well as bunkers, terrestrial and hydro technical facilities. Attractions are bats. Canoe rafts are also organized on the canal route.

The Boryszyn Loop is an extensive fortification complex, encompassing a number of different facilities forming the Międzyrzecki Rehabilitation Area, which was supposed to be the extension of the Maginot Line. The barracks, engine rooms, workshops and train stations can be seen in several kilometers, as well as many battle shelters. Walking on the shorter route takes about 1.5 hours. Longer trip requires a reservation of 2.5 hours. It is also necessary to prepare the appropriate clothing, because in the basement there is a temperature of about 10 degrees C.

MRU is one of the greatest defenses of modern Europe. The history of the Boryszyn Loop begins in the 1930s, when the Germans began to build the first fortifications. They were expanded rapidly after Hitler came to power, just before World War II. Ultimately, the team found more than 100 terrestrial objects and an underground tunnel network of about 30 km.
