The Castle of the Knights of St. John is an attraction not only because of its appearance, but also because of its picturesque location. The Castle is located on a hill that is surrounded by greenery and in the vicinity of two lakes - Łagów and Trześniowski. The main building dates from the seventeenth century, and is accompanied by four two-story wings surrounding the courtyard. The oldest part of the castle dates back to 1350. In the 16th century a historic 24 m high tower was built.Like every castle, the one in Łagów has its own ghost - a knight in burning armor, which allegedly appears to the men staying here in the period of spring and summer. It is believed that this knight is the ghost of commander Andrzej von Schlieben who, as the first friar, broke his vows because of love and married his beloved. Apparently, he was condemned for eternal damnation for his betrayal.Less
