ŚWIEBODZINPoland
Christ the King
Local name: Pomnik Chrystusa Króla
Monument of the Christ King of the World in Swiebodzin is similar to the style and form of the famous monument in Rio de Janeiro. Reinforced concrete figure has similar appearance – in liturgical robes, standing straight and with spread hands, however it surpasses Christ the Redeemer by 6 meters, of which 3 meters measures a completely glided crown.
The statue is situated on a 16-meter-long embankment. The height of the monument is 36 meters, of which 3,5 measures a crown on the top of the head. The weight of the structure from the net concrete is 15 tons, and the distance between the ends of the hands is 24 meters. Together with the mound, the installation measures to 52,2 meters and its mass is estimated at 440 tons. The initiator of the construction of the monument was the parish priest of the Swiebodzin parish and the monument was consecrated in 2010 by bishop Stefan Regmunt. The interesting fact is that in the moment of its creation it was the highest statue of Christ in the world. Although in 2011 a similar 37-meter monument was built in Lima, the one in Swiebodzin still bears the palm, because it's the 16-meter pedestal that makes the Lime monument higher.Less
