Świebodzin is a city associated primarily with one of the tallest statues of Christ the King in the world. It also has many other advantages, and the long history dating back to the Middle Ages means that there are many interesting monuments here.
The history of the city dates back to the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries, but the first written records appear at the beginning of the 14th century. The oldest monument in Świebodzin is the Gothic church of St. Michael the Archangel. In its vicinity there is a historic center with many nice tenement houses, a promenade and a roar. The town hall stands here, with Czesław Niemen's bench in front of it. The neo-Gothic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Poland, which was built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries as an Evangelical church, is also a magnificent monument.
While visiting Świebodzin, you can also discover the history of this city in the Regional Museum. It has interesting exhibitions devoted to various periods in the history of not only the city, but also its surroundings.
However, the greatest interest is aroused by one of the newest attractions in Świebodzin, i.e. the Statue of Christ the King. At the time of construction, it was the tallest such figure in the world, but has now lost its position. Nevertheless, it is still the highest such monument in Poland, visible from quite a distance and attracting many people interested in this unusual attraction to the city.
