Regional Museum
Local name: Muzeum Regionalne
Regional Museum in Świebodzin presents the history and nature of the city and region. There are two permanent exhibitions within the facility: the Nature of the Lubuskie Land, and the History of the Town and the Region, together with collections of art. It is located in the town hall building. From the town hall tower, every day, you can see the city of Świebodzin and see the panorama of the city.
The Museum was founded on the initiative of the Society of Friends of the Świebodzin Land in 1971. Its roots date back to the beginning of the twentieth century: in the years 1903-1945 there were urban collections that were transformed into the local museum. During World War II much of the collection was dispersed. On the basis of those remaining, the Regional Museum in Swiebodzin was created.
The town hall building in Świebodzin dates back to the 16th century and was built in the place of the earlier medieval town hall. It was rebuilt several times. Its contemporary façade is made in Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance styles.
