Gorzów Wielkopolski is the seat of the Lubuskie Voivode and the second most important city of the voivodeship, next to Zielona Góra. It is a city with medieval roots and many interesting monuments, including the Gothic cathedral.

A large part of the Old Town in Gorzów Wielkopolski was destroyed during artillery fire during World War II. The post-war reconstruction did not restore its original appearance, but only kept the old street layout. There are relics of the city walls around the Old Town. The most important building of the Old Town is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a massive defensive cathedral tower. In the Old Town Square, there is a modern Witches' Well, which commemorates women who were recognized as witches and burned at the stake.

The war turmoil, however, survived the Nowe Miasto from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, entered on the list of monuments. It houses many historic public buildings, as well as houses of industrialists and wealthy inhabitants of Gorzów.

A big attraction of Gorzów Wielkopolski is the Lubuskie Museum. Jan Dekert. It includes several buildings in the city, including a villa and garden complex with a collection of Polish paintings and the 17th-century White Granary with collections devoted to the history of the city. An interesting form of spending time can be a visit to the Gorzów Philharmonic.

The Warta River occupies an important place on the map of Gorzów. Nadwarciański Boulevard is a popular place for walks and outdoor events. At the quay, in the area of the Wiosny Ludów Park, there is a marina for the "Kuna" icebreaker, which runs river cruises in the season. In the same area, you can also enter the modern lookout tower "Pająk" from where you can admire the panorama of Gorzów.
