Paucksch Fountain
Local name: Fontanna Pauckscha
The Pauckscha fountain is a symbol of the city located on the Old Market in the neighborhood of the cathedral. The heart is the figure of a woman on whose shoulders rests a coroner with hanging buckets. The woman is accompanied by two seated children. Sculpture is a replica of the gift of the Landsberg entrepreneur Hermann Paucksch.
The story of the fountain is interesting just like its symbolism. The first construction in its present form, Paucksch founded in 1896 on the occasion of his 80th birthday, but the figure did not survive until present. Landsberg, as it was called Gorzów, belonged to Germany and during the second war the cast iron was used for war purposes. The statue was replaced by a concrete base. Landsberg's tradition is also connected with the symbolic pronunciation of the figure, which was to reflect the industriousness of the inhabitants and the industry, fisheries and shipping, whose development enabled Warta to live.
In the 1980s, the concrete base was replaced again by the spinning figure. They decorated the fountain until the mid-90s, when a decision was made to reconstruct Paucksch's gift. It was unveiled in 1997 on the 740th anniversary of the city, and the grandson and grandson of the founder participated in the ceremony.
