Icebreaker "Kuna"
Local name: Lodołamacz "Kuna"
Kuna Ice Breaker is the oldest floating unit of its kind, which owes its life to a group of enthusiasts. The ship offers training and educational voyages, where you can familiarize yourself with the history of inland navigation, waterway construction, ecology, and the culture and history of the region.
More than 120 years old, the ship was built at Danziger Schiffswerft & Kesselschmiede Feliks Devrient & Co. in Gdansk. For many years the unit sailed under the flag of Prussia, then Germany and Britain. In 1947, the Polish Maritime Mission was taken over by the Polish Navy, and then the State Water Board in Tczew. After the renovation, the icebreaker sailed under the Polish flag until 1965 when it was withdrawn from service and scrapped. In 1981 he sank in the port of Gorzów, and would have ended his history if not for a group of passionate people.
After six years of fundraising, formal handling and excavation of the wreck, it was thoroughly rebuilt, retaining the original hull, fore and aft deck, mooring poles and propulsion components. Today, the unit is powered by a 165 hp internal combustion engine.
