Piechowice is a tourist town at the foot of the Karkonosze Mountains and a good starting point for hiking around the Łabski Summit and Śnieżne Kotły. The town, founded in the Middle Ages, also has several interesting monuments.
The town was founded in the 14th century and was initially a mill settlement. The beginnings of tourism development date back to the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Then the first tourists appeared in the area, marking the paths leading to the Łabski Peak. The city currently consists of several parts where you can see, among others the late Gothic church of Corpus Christi in Piastów, the neo-Romanesque church of St. Antoni Padewski in Piechowice and the 17th century palace complex in Pakoszów.
Active tourism predominates in Piechowice. It is related to the location under the main ridge of the Karkonosze Mountains. A popular destination for short walks is Szklarki Waterfall, to which a simple walking trail leads.
However, the most important landscape attractions of Piechowice are located higher in the mountains. These are, above all, the remarkably scenic Śnieżne Kotły, whose rock falls are visible even from great distances. Scenic hiking trails lead to the Łabski Summit and Wielki Szyszak, and to Szrenica, located a bit further.
