Jastarnia is a holiday town on the Hel Peninsula, with several sea bathing areas and wide, sandy beaches. It is a perfect place for summer recreation and allows active, cycling and water tourism.

The first records of the settlement of Jastarnia come from the 14th century, but its faster development only began in the 18th century. A church and a school were then built, and the village became an important fishing center. This condition lasted until the interwar period, when the first summer vacationers began to arrive here and a port was established. Tourism became the dominant branch of the city's economy only in the second half of the 20th century.

Today's Jastarnia is primarily a summer vacation destination. Its most important attractions include the Beach in Jastarnia, the Beach in Jurata and the Beach in Kuźnica. Until recently, these settlements were part of the city of Jastarnia, and are now located in the commune. You can rent water equipment on the beaches, there are also surf schools.

Thanks to its location on the Hel Peninsula, Jastarnia has beaches both from the side of the open sea and the Bay. On the bay side there is also the Jurata Pier, which is a popular destination for walks. Both shores are connected by the Międzymorze Promenade with numerous shops and pubs, where nightlife and entertainment flourish.

In the interwar period, Mierzeja Helska was an important strategic point for Poland. As in the nearby Hel, also in Jastarnia there were military fortifications. Today, the Jastarnia Resistance Center is a popular attraction where you can visit the Sabala Shelter, Saragossa, Sęp and Sokół.
