The European Solidarity Centre is a special institution which was established in order to promote the legacy of Independent Self-governing Labour Union "Solidarity". Serving as a didactic and cultural center, it presents the modern history of Poland and teaches young generations about the activity of the "Solidarity" union.
The European Solidarity Centre was established in 2007. It collects numerous souvenirs and items related to the modern history of Poland. The permanent exhibition presents the detailed history of "Solidarity" and the opposition starting from the forming of the union, to the obstacles it met, and ending on the triumph of freedom and democracy. The exposition also contains photographies, video material, maps, press clippings, and other documents.Apart from the permanent exhibitions in the European Solidarity Centre, visitors can view themed temporary exhibitions. The center has rich archives, library, media library, and multipurpose hall. Worthy of attention is also the modern building of the center designed by architect Wojciech Targowski.Less
