Bern is the capital of Switzerland, picturesquely situated on the Aare river. The medieval Old Town has been preserved here, which was inscribed on the UNESCO list.

The city was founded in 1191 in a bend of the river, thanks to which it was surrounded on three sides by a natural moat. Initially, the wooden buildings burned down completely. In its place, gothic houses, churches and public facilities were built, which have survived to this day. What distinguishes Bern from other cities are the arcades, under which you can comfortably walk. There are over 6 km here, which means that even in the rain, visiting the city does not expose you to getting wet.

Bern's beginnings are associated with the legend of how Prince Bertold V killed a bear here during a hunt. The animal found its way into the municipal coat of arms, and currently several bears live on the catwalk on the banks of the Aare River. The city is also famous for its huge rosarium, where you can admire over 200 species of these beautiful flowers.

In the area of the UNESCO-listed Old Town you can see, among others cathedral of st. Wincentego with a collection of stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments and a hundred-meter tower on which a viewing point is located. There is also a clock tower, which was once part of the city gate and 11 sixteenth century fountains with legendary and mythological figures. There is also a house in which at the beginning of the 20th century Albert Einstein lived and a lot of luxury stores selling, among others famous Swiss clocks and watches, jewelry and chocolates.
