Kindlifresser Fountain
Local name: Kindlifresserbrunnen
The fountain is one of the 16th century fountains in Bern's old town. It was created in 1545/46 by Hans Gieng and replaced the wooden fountain from the 15th century. The sculpture of the fountains depicts an ogre eating children. There are many theories about the statue, but the final version is that it is a carnival character intended to scare disobedient children.
