Puck is a holiday resort and a fishing port located on the Bay of Puck. There are beaches here that fill up with vacationers every summer, and a lot of historic buildings have been preserved.
The history of Puck dates back to the 3rd century, and already in the 9th century there was a port used for fishing and commercial purposes. The city was founded in the mid-fourteenth century by the Teutonic Knights and quickly developed into a significant commercial center. The oldest and most valuable monument from medieval times is the Gothic Church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul.
In the center of Puck, a lot of historic buildings have survived, mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. Among them, the beautiful Baroque Hospital for the Poor, built in the half-timbered technique, stands out. Inside, there is now an ethnographic exhibition showing the life of the former inhabitants of the city and its vicinity. Exhibitions related to this subject can also be seen in the Town House from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, which is the main seat of the local museum.
Situated on the Puck Bay, it is a popular holiday resort. Its most important attractions include the beach and the pier in Puck. The beach is covered with light sand at the foot of a low cliff. The water here is warm and calm, which makes for a family vacation. The main place for walks is the wooden pier with the nearby marina and a viewpoint over the bay and the Hel Peninsula.
