Frombork is a town on the Vistula Lagoon associated with the figure of Nicolaus Copernicus. The astronomer, as a member of the Warmia chapter, lived in one of the towers in the area belonging to the Department. The Cathedral Complex is also the burial place of the scientist.

The name Frombork is the Polonized sound of the German Frauenburg, meaning the Town of the Virgin Mary. It was founded in the second half of the 13th century by the bishop of Warmia, who decided to move the cathedral here from Braniewo, which was destroyed by the Prussians. A city grew quickly around the Cathedral Hill, and many Gothic monuments have been preserved to this day.

Frombork's most important attraction and monument is the Frombork Historical Monument Museum, the Cathedral Complex. its central building is the Cathedral in Frombork, where Nicolaus Copernicus is buried. Next to the Cathedral, there is the Radziejowski Tower, which now houses a planetarium. On its top there is an observation deck from which you can admire the panorama of the Vistula Lagoon. In the Copernicus Tower you can see an exhibition presenting what the astronomer's studio could look like, while the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum is located in the former Palace of Warmia Bishops.

Apart from the Cathedral Hill, there is also a Gothic Church of St. Nicholas and the neo-Gothic church of St. Wojciech. On the foundations of the former mill gate stands the 16th century Water Tower, which was part of the first waterworks in Frombork.
