At the top of the lighthouse there is an observation deck from which, during the beautiful sunny weather, Gdańsk and part of the Hel Peninsula are visible. To get to the top of the tower, visitors have to climb the steep stairs. The panorama that awaits the visitors is a great reward for the effort put into climbing.
The attraction is not far from the main pedestrian zone and the beach. The path to the lighthouse leads through the forest, so visitors can await a pleasant walk. A curiosity related to this place is that the lighthouse was visited by marshal Józef Piłsudski. This event was commemorated by the plaque embedded in the wall. This object has been repeatedly destroyed by fires, storms, and warfare. Each time the lighthouse has been rebuilt and improved. In 1942, the building gained its present form. It is an octagonal tower, made of red facing brick, tapering upwards.Less
