Krynica Morska lighthouse

The lighthouse has a height of 26.5 m, and its top can be reached by an internal spiral staircase, 100 steps high. Architecturally interesting object was placed on a series of postage stamps issued in 2006 by Poczta Polska (Polish Post), together with three other street lighthouses (Stilo, Gąski and Niechorze).
The lighthouse has the shape of a truncated cone, whose diameter at the base is 6, and on the top 4.5 m. It is painted in red, which makes it visible from a distance of several kilometers. From the gallery crowning the lighthouse, there is a view of the Vistula Spit, the Gdańsk Bay, the Vistula Lagoon and Frombork. In good weather, you can see Tri-City and the Kaliningrad Oblast.The lighthouse located at 53 m above sea level is equipped with two 1000 watt bulbs. The intermittent light of the lighthouse is visible from a distance of 18 nautical miles (approximately 33 km). The current lighthouse has been operating since 1951. It stands on the site of its predecessor, which was set on May 1, 1895. The old lighthouse served uninterruptedly until 1945, when it was blown up by retreating German soldiers.Less
