Darłowo is a holiday town on the Baltic Sea, and at the same time a center with a long history and numerous monuments. The local sandy beaches invite to rest, and the monuments attract people who like sightseeing.
The existence of a stronghold in Darłowo dates back to the 11th century, and in 1271 it received city rights, modeled on Lübeck. Soon after, the construction of the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle began, which now houses a regional museum. The Gothic St. Mary's Church and the High Gate also come from the Middle Ages. The central point of the old part of Darłowo is the Old Market Square with the Fisherman's Monument. An interesting fact about the city is the sixteenth-century church of St. Gertrude, which in the past served as a cemetery chapel.
What especially attracts tourists to Darłowo are the recreational values. The beach in Darłowo and the Eastern Beach in Darłówek are sandy and clean. In most areas, you can relax on your own with your own equipment, but there are also rentals. There are playing fields and places for recreation, and there are many bars nearby. A popular place for recreation is also the JAN Water Park with several slides and pools of various depths.
The seaside image of the city is complemented by the Sea Port with moored fishing boats and cruise ships. There is also a lighthouse in the vicinity. The attraction of the port built at the mouth of the Wieprza River to the sea is Poland's only Extending Bridge. You can also go on a vaporetto cruise, which is a good alternative to road transport.
