The 14th Century High Gate is one of three objects of this type that have survived in Darłowo to this day. They are remnants of the former walls that once served as defense and political offices. Standing on the tower you can admire the whole city, so it was used as an observation point from which looked for possible threats, such as fires.
The present appearance of the gate was given during a refurbishment in 1732. The date was immortalized on the facade of the building, from the city side, using metal bars. The building itself has four storeys, was built on a square plan and used to make bricks. There is a crooked passage, and there are holes in the interior. The gate was crowned with a hip, roofed tent roof.
