Darłowo lighthouse

Local name: Latarnia morska

The Lighthouse in Darłowo was built at the mouth of the Wieprz River. It is the most eastern lighthouse on the West Coast. Visitors can enter the top of the building and admire the surroundings. Inside there are pictures and charts concerning the history of Darłowo Lighthouse and lighthouse keeper profession.

The building dates from the nineteenth century, and its appearance is nothing like a classic lighthouse. It was built together with the pilots station, where one of the pilots was on duty and at the same time served the lighthouse. Initially, it was much lower and was shining with red light. During the years it underwent many renovations. The color of light was changed to white and the building was raised to 22 meters. The current appearance of the lighthouse has remained almost unchanged since 1927.

The climb to the top is simple and does not cause much difficulty. Being at the top, you can admire the sea, the beach, but also the city of Darłowo, and the port with the famous sliding bridge.
