Chojnice is a historic town located in Bory Tucholskie. They can be a good base for exploring this picturesque area. The center has retained its medieval layout with the remains of fortifications.

The town was founded in the 13th century and was associated with the Augustinian monastery from the nearby town of Swornegacie. From 1309, it was under the rule of the Teutonic Knights, who built defensive walls and towers and fortified city gates, including the Człuchów Tower, which now houses the Historical and Ethnographic Museum.

The central square of Chojnice is the market square with a neo-Gothic town hall and tenement houses with eclectic and neoclassical facades. Nearby stands the oldest of the local churches, the Gothic Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. In the Old Town you can also visit the baroque Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
