The gate, also called Kamienna, is a tall red brick building, the most recognizable monument of Chojnice. The object is the property of the Regional Museum, and in the interiors you can see interesting historical expositions. Museum collections are located on five storeys, and from the highest level you can also admire the beautiful panorama of Chojnice.
Thanks to the renovation of the façade in the last decade, you can see elements of original, medieval walls with the original, characteristic shape of the arches over the passage. In the interiors recreated the original level of ceilings and some original architectural elements, like the great fireplace in the Fireplace Hall.
The building is the only one of the three original gates that has survived to the present day. Its foundation with defensive walls dates back to the 14th century in the style of the Pomeranian Gothic. Formerly, it was an observation and defense function, today it is a beautiful testimony to history and an example of the extraordinary architecture of the Middle Ages.
