Bismarck Tower
Local name: Wieża Bismarcka
Bismarck Tower, known today as Gocław Tower, was built at the beginning of the 20th century on Zielone Wzgórze in honor of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. In the past, it served as a recreational place and a viewpoint. The object is private property and is not opened to the public.
The building has a cylindrical shape and is topped with a dome. The first floor consists of an observation deck surrounded by railings. The tower's counterforts had ten eagle statues which were destroyed during World War II. In the beginning, there was a cafe "Weinberg".The construction was initiated at the end of the 19th century. Because of World War I, the opening ceremony was delayed to 1921. In 2001, it was sold to a private investor who was to establish a restaurant here. Unfortunately, that plan was not realized and the object is now falling into ruin.Less
