The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chojnice was built by the Jesuits in the 18th century. Its interior consists of the late-Baroque decor, and polychromies by Franciszek Ksawery Haefflich, the painter from Chojnice. What brings attention the most is the richly decorated main altar with the painting of Mother of God with the Child and Saint John the Baptist from 1662.
The altar blends in very nicely with portals to the sacristy and the south porch making a coherent whole. The entrance to the crypts situated below the presbytery can be found in the side porch. The other four side altars present such pieces of arts as the paintings of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, or Vision of Saint Stanislaus Kostka. An interesting feature of the church is the Rococo pulpit founded by Krzysztof Nataniel Wolf, medic of the Polish Army and court medic of the Czartoryski Family. The coat of arms of the Wolf Family is placed on its dome.Less
