In the museum there is, among others, an ethnographic exhibition devoted to the material culture of the Kashubian of Bytów and exhibitions of an artistic and historical character, referring to the Teutonic times and the reign of Gryfit dynasty on the land of Bytów. It is also possible to visit the Mill Tower, which has an exhibition devoted to the history of Bytów and the defense walls, from where you can see the entire castle courtyard.

The museum occupies the oldest wing of the Teutonic castle called the Religious House and two adjacent towers: Mill and Gunpowder, as well as the curtain wall. On the second floor there is a huge hall, where visitors have the opportunity to visit the temporary exhibitions. This room is also a venue for performances and concerts.

In addition to the castle, the branches of the West Kashubian Museum are: a tower left after the church of St. Catherine in the center of Bytów, the Museum of the Polish School and the Styp-Rekowski Farm in Płotów. In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, presenting ethnographic, historical and artistic collections.
