Together with Karlovy Vary and Františkovy Lázně, Marianske Lazne forms a so-called Czech spa three. There are 130 mineral springs here, whose main shots are in the picturesque spa park with the impressive 138-meter Main Colonnade.
Marianske Lazne was founded at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries among the wooded hills near the already popular resort of Karlovy Vary. They gained popularity almost immediately, and in the nineteenth and early twentieth century there was here the social and artistic cream of Europe, headed by Goeth, Wagner, Kafka, Gogol, Chopin and even the British king Edward VII. Today, the spa specializes in the treatment of women's diseases, diseases of the urinary system and the spine and also offers stays related to biological regeneration.
Of the 130 local mineral springs, around 40 are used today. The most important of these are in the picturesque spa park, where the most important spa facilities are located. The most important of them is the pump room called the Main Colonnade. It is a building made of glass and metal, cast at the end of the 19th century in one of the Czech steel mills. Its interior is decorated with paintings and illuminated by the sun's rays coming through huge windows. In front of the pump room is the Singing Fountain, whose shows attract crowds in the evenings.
A stay in Marianske Lazne can not be complete without tasting the local delicacy, Lázeňské wafers or round wafers produced by the local company Kolonada since 1840.
